What Passive Learning Looks Like –
Passive learners are distracted. Perhaps they are multitasking. Maybe they are watching their own image on the Zoom call instead of the presenter.
If they looked closer, they’d realize that passive learning manifests physically. Passive learners slouch. They frown. They look listless.
Not every aspect of passive learning is obvious. One thing people often do too much of is take notes. This may seem like an active approach, but it generally means you are not able to be present in the moment and really apply the information to your own situation.
What Active Learning Looks Like –
Active learners literally tell themselves to be ready and aware. They engage their senses.
It’s vital to connect emotionally when actively learning. Have your dreams in front of you at all times. Write your goal down and connect that dream to what is being taught. When you can link your knowledge directly to your dreams, that emotional connection will allow you to absorb the information much, much faster.
Active learners think with positivity. They use language like “I will do it”, “I want to do it”, and “I want to learn”. They make the information they’re receiving a top priority, bringing it up from the basement of their minds to the living room. Then, they live it. They take action based on their knowledge.
